Position Compensation Range:
$144,000.00 - $243,000.00Pay Rate Type:
SalaryCompensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.
Primary Accountabilities
- Lead predictive modeling projects often involving multiple team members to develop and deploy models, especially with regards to Underwriting, that positively impact bottom-line economics.
- Use statistical and machine learning/deep learning to build supervised, semi-supervised and unsupervised models per business needs.
- Work with fellow data scientists and developer teams to translate models to business solutions and collaborate with other departments in the company when necessary.
- Lead the business efforts to help implement the models in production.
- Interface with stakeholders and develop innovative approaches to communicate the value add of the models being built.
- Identify, leverage, develop, and demonstrate expertise in emerging technologies, open source tools, and harnessing new AI techniques. The primary owner of internal model pipelines and takes the initiative to up-skill junior members of the team.
For the Lead-level position, we are seeking candidates who have most of the qualifications outlined below. However, we are also open to considering applicants at a lower level who demonstrate a portion of the required experience. The final determination of the level will be based on the candidate's qualifications.
- Master's degree or higher in Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics or other quantitative discipline.
- Business experience in statistical modeling, data mining, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and applying database queries.
- Knowledge of Machine Learning and Statistical methods and experience applying them to business problems.
- Deploy and maintain real-time model scoring services.
- Ability to extract and clean data from a variety of structured and unstructured sources.
- Solid understanding of best practices in coding, code organization, data transformation, imputation, model selection, evaluation, and tuning.
- Gradient Boosted and Bayesian models.
- GCP or cloud architecture.
- Proficiency in programming in Python and SQL. Knowledge of Go, Java or Scala.
- Knowledge of one version control system (Git).
- Experience working in the insurance industry.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.
- Ability to work as part of a team and to communicate effectively.
- Proficiency in programming languages suitable for database access, scripting, statistical analysis, and system development.
- Understanding of software development best practices including source control, coding standards and testing frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience communicating complex findings in a clear and concise manor to divisional management. Able to influence senior managers through outstanding presentations.
- Demonstrated experience developing and managing complex projects.
- Experience shaping the strategy for projects to deliver maximum business value.
- Demonstrated experience formulating, approaching, and solving complex analytical problems using a quantitative, scientific approach.
- Demonstrated experience working with large, complex datasets using big data technologies and script.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of managing data to scale using data summarization, query, and analysis software and tools.
