Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)

New Hires: Entry level rate $15.99/hr.; Current employees in the bargaining unit: Please refer to the salary schedule established by the applicable bargaining group.

Assist with and support classroom teachers with reading and math instruction and small group intervention.
Assist with daily activities and routines of students.
Work collaboratively with teacher(s) using developmentally appropriate practices.
Assist teacher in monitoring students' progress by keeping necessary records and giving feedback as requested.
Follow teacher directions for instructions.
Use positive reinforcement techniques to assist in managing behavior throughout the school routine including transition times and recess.
Engage in on-going staff development.
Model flexibility in duties as the needs of students change.
Model enthusiasm and patience.
Supervision before school and at recess.
Attend study trips as needed.
Other duties as assigned by building administrator.
Successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.
Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
Must be willing to support and implement Davenport’s multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) for both behavior and academics.
PLEASE NOTE: This position is funded via Title I funds on an annual basis and may not be renewed the following year.

Physical Requirements of Position: (HBV ? Yes ? No)

Hands on position; able to work with children while sitting on the carpet and/or in small work areas
Ability to withstand weather for outside activities
Must be able to lift, pull and push 50 lbs.
