Description
SIS is currently looking for a great candidate to train to be a QC Specialist. This person will learn to assess customer instruments and evaluate problems to produce a consistent high quality repair. She/He will examine and test all completed repairs to ensure the quality meets or exceeds SIS and manufacturer quality standards. The position requires general mechanical aptitude, great attention to detail, and familiarity with the quality control process. The QC Specialist will monitor the repair process from beginning to end to ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner. He/She will take ownership of responsibilities and act proactively, ensuring the highest quality customer experience.
Requirements
Snapshot of the Position
• Visually inspect and test repaired surgical instruments using appropriate methods (QC)
• Ensure repaired instruments meet OEM specifications adhering to SIS quality control standards prior to shipping
• Etch, tag and bag repaired instruments in preparation for shipping
• Keep track of changes in hospital criteria, products, special contract terms, etc.
• Research and assist with technician inquiries regarding instrument/repair needs
• Receive parts requests from techs and deliver needed items in a timely manner
• Verify pricing on invoices prior to disbursement
• Assist with inventory management, as needed
• Identify areas of improvement regarding quality issues, and offer solutions
• Work closely with the Director of Instruments to accurately identify pricing, instruments and vendors
• Actively participate in education and training
• Evaluate, inspect, and troubleshoot all models of flexible endoscopes to ensure proper function
• Employ mechanical and material knowledge to determine proper repairs
• Assess the quality and productivity of repair process, ensuring efficient workflow
• Identify and implement process improvements
• Research, communicate and assist in resolving repair or process issues
• Accurately complete all evaluation and quality control paperwork in a timely manner
• Conduct and support process audits to maintain and improve quality standards
• Other duties as assigned
Key Competencies
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Excellent mechanical aptitude
• Solid knowledge of quality concepts and quality improvement techniques; experience in a quality control role highly preferred
• High comfort level using computers and order management software, as well as testing and evaluation equipment
• Effective verbal communication skills are essential
• Leadership skills
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are preferred
• Motivated and positive attitude
• Time management and organization skills are a must
