Training Equipment Specialist (Systems Support Engineer)

The role

The role of Training Equipment Specialist (Systems Support Engineer) is to provide operational maintenance support to Royal Navy (RN) Submarine Training Equipment (TE). This role involves the maintenance, defect management and support services required to ensure the Training Equipment (TE) is available as laid down in contract requirements. The role involves working to quality standards, deadlines and budgets while maintaining high levels of safety and customer satisfaction.

    Skills and Experience:

    • An adequate knowledge of and compliance with the Health and Safety policy and regulations consistent with their responsibilities.
    • Previous experience of failure diagnosis, fault rectification and conducting planned preventative maintenance tasks on systems.
    • Previous experience of successfully delivering projects and change.
    • Qualified academically or vocationally in relevant engineering subject matter.
    • Excellent working experience of Windows based products.
    • Experience of backup and antivirus solutions.
    • Excellent communication skills.

    Desirable:

    • Previous experience of operating RN Submarine systems.
    • Previous experience of applying engineering principles practically in RN training establishments.
    • An understanding of the Accreditation and SCIDA processes.
    • A commitment to continuing professional development (CPD).
    • Experience of deploying and maintaining bespoke TE products.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide TE support (1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th Line) to ensure calls are managed in line with contracted          
    • SLA/KPI.
    • Update and maintain a register of TE assets.
    • Provide user support to ensure the effective and timely resolution of technical problems.
    • Document solutions to problems regarding standard TE applications and record them appropriately.
    • Manage and deliver software deployment as instructed/requested.
    • Monitor system alerts and reports.
    • Contribute to the proper installation, maintenance, and disposal of TE.
    • Liaison with contractors and suppliers of TE.
    • Provide TE support services ensuring all services are delivered to contract requirements.
    • Any other duties required to complete the Training Equipment Service.
