NATURE OF WORK: The Parks Superintendent operates under the general direction of the Field Services Manager and Public Works & Utilities Director. Serves as a division leader and performs a wide variety of semi-skilled and skilled work related to cemetery operations, construction, forestry, open space maintenance, parks landscaping, parks facilities maintenance, recreational programming, right-of-way maintenance, and trail system maintenance. Supervises and works in conjunction with Streets and Stormwater Superintendent, Wastewater Superintendent, and Water Superintendent to schedule shared equipment and maintenance project workflow. | |||

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for prolonged periods. The employee is regularly required to exercise mental visual concentration, listen, talk, stand, reach, twist, and demonstrate manual dexterity. The employee is required to focus attention on tasks without losing concentration or becoming distracted by surrounding activities and interruptions. The employee is also required to kneel, squat, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 85 pounds on an occasional basis. The employee may need to climb ladders, work in Confined Spaces, use power equipment/tools that produce vibration and noise, and work in Work Zones with moderate to heavy traffic. The employee may need to work in all outside weather conditions near moving equipment in areas with elevated noise levels and where chemicals may be utilized. Work is performed in both office and field settings. | |||
