FOH Supervisor Responsibilities

Employee Relations

  • Build rapport between kitchen and front of house staff to minimize conflict.
  • Ensure that FOH attendants are greeting guests and answering telephone calls promptly and cordially.
  • Maintain a sound and stress-free environment for everyone to work as a team.
  • Uphold employee recognition and incentive programs to maintain high morale.
  • Monitor staff’s appearance and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Work with GM and HR to appropriately deal with any conflicts regarding staff.

General Operations

  • Conduct daily pre-shift/post-shift to increase communication.
  • Respond to any guest complaints and take necessary action.
  • Monitor the appearance of the restaurant and take corrective action.
  • Welcome and greet guests warmly, making them feel comfortable and assured that you are there to personally take care of them.
  • Effectively supervise the restaurant and bar operation and delegate tasks to ensure excellent service and restaurant goals are consistently achieved.
  • Answer questions about our food, beverages, and other restaurant functions and services.
  • Monitor and observe guests' dining experience. Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service. Respond promptly and courteously to any requests.
  • Manage the restaurant to meet or exceed standards in food quality, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Assist General Manager in monitoring labor costs to schedule employees accordingly and remain within budgets.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors to place orders.
  • Train, monitor, and maintain the POS (point of sale) System.
  • Assist in any areas of the restaurant when staffing constraints require.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age. 
  • High school education or equivalent. 
  • 1-2 years of experience. 
  • Basic computer skills. 
  • Ability to deal with guests in a professional manner while maintaining a composed demeanor in high stress situations. 
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds on a regular basis.  
  • Frequent long periods of standing and walking are expected during the workday.  
  • Ability to reach for objects and stoop or bend as needed to perform job duties.  
  • This position may involve visual and auditory tasks, including the ability to see and hear adequately to perform job functions.
