LOCATION: Cambridge, UK
The Manager, Software Engineering is responsible for the team that will work on the GrabCAD Platform. This role will be responsible for mentoring and guiding the team; setting a high bar for quality, technical excellence and architectural integrity, and ensuring that the team has clear goals and an environment where they can produce their best work. The manager role will also be responsible for a specific domain within the Software Platform.
Responsibilities:
- Working closely with Product Management, Quality Assurance and other engineering leaders to scope, estimate and schedule work for new products and features.
- Shipping high-quality products and investigating new technologies to improve current products and build new products.
- Identifying, communicating and prioritizing architectural issues to improve the scalability, consistency and reliability of our codebase.
- Managing, growing and mentoring a team of engineers.
- Identifying and fixing resource and process gaps, striving to balance short- and long-term deliverables.
- Setting performance goals for individuals on your team and provide frequent feedback to ensure the goals are met.
- Discussing career paths with your team and developing plans for each individual's growth based on their skills, career interests and company needs
- Being close enough to the code that you can lead technical discussions amongst your team and within the wider company.
- Leading technology excellence by building technical and professional competencies in the team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or similar
- 6+ years of experience in Leadership Experience
- 4+ years of experience in software engineering
- 4+ years of experience as an engineer using several of the following:
- Javascript, Typescript, C, C++, C#, CAD/Graphics.
- 4+ years of agile development methodologies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally and cross-site
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to build enterprise software, complex desktop applications, CAD/Graphics applications, BI applications, or software that supports hardware products
- Experience with 3D Printing, CNC machining or other manufacturing processes
- Master’s degree
- Leadership experience in the workforce
