A day in the life of an Engineer at Bruce Power:
Engineers are required to provide technical evaluations and advice, solve problems and co-ordinate technical work in several major work areas, including the support of commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the facilities. As an engineer building a new career in the nuclear industry or an experienced engineer looking to grow your career at Bruce Power; there are many opportunities to learn and apply your knowledge and skills in a meaningful way.
Many new Engineers work in the station, where they are up close and personal with the systems and teams of people that keep the plant running. Other opportunities allow Engineers to work on a project designing a piping system and afforded the opportunity to go on “walk downs” to physically check the existing systems and how the new system will interface. They gain invaluable insight from those in the plant who are open to answering any questions about their specific systems.
Other responsibilities may include the preparation of technical documents such as equipment specifications and engineering calculations. The engineering positions at Bruce Power include responsibilities and technical focus that provide you with a sense of the challenging and engaging engineering work that is available within the nuclear industry.
