Position: Middle Grades Teacher (Social Studies/English Language Arts)
Reports to: Principal
Under general supervision, plans, organizes, and delivers instruction that helps students learn subject matter and develop skills contributing to their academic, social, and personal growth. Creates a positive and engaging classroom environment that aligns with district goals and state standards.
Provide meaningful learning experiences using the district-approved curriculum.
Develop and use instructional materials suitable for students with diverse abilities, interests, and needs.
Deliver individual and group instruction designed to motivate students and support their learning.
Establish and maintain effective classroom management to ensure active participation.
Assess and evaluate academic and social growth; maintain accurate and timely student records.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians through conferences, written reports, and other methods.
Identify student needs and collaborate with colleagues to address academic, behavioral, or social challenges.
Create a stimulating learning environment through displays, interest centers, and classroom design.
Maintain professional competence through district in-service training and ongoing professional development.
Collaborate with administrators in the evaluation process as outlined by district guidelines.
Select and manage instructional materials, including maintaining inventory records.
Supervise students during non-classroom activities as assigned.
Participate in faculty meetings, district committees, and student activities.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree, including coursework to meet credential requirements.
Valid North Carolina teaching license for the assigned grade levels and subject areas.
Must meet federal Highly Qualified Teacher standards.
Operate classroom and office equipment such as computers, copiers, projectors, and related tools.
Perform tasks requiring light physical effort, including moving classroom materials.
Read, prepare, and communicate reports, forms, correspondence, and instructional materials effectively.
Apply logical and analytical thinking to solve problems and interpret technical information.
Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and community members.
Adapt to stressful situations and respond appropriately in emergencies.
Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
Ability to engage students and maximize instructional time.
Effective communication and collaboration with parents, staff, and the community.
Skill in monitoring and assessing student performance.
Flexibility to perform both instructional and non-instructional duties as assigned.
