Start your career in public service. The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Family & Children Services is seeking applicants for the position of Manager, Accounting/Financial Services, Region 5 Accounting. This position is located in Bogart, Oconee County, Georgia.

Position Duties

Pay Grade: M

Manages the accounting and financial operations of a unit, department or agency. Recommends and implements accounting policies and procedures in accordance with government regulations. Directs subordinate supervisors and staff.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provides daily leadership and supervision to the overall operations of the Field Fiscal Services Unit. 
  • Provides management level functions including budgetary control and reporting.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of regional accounting office.
  • Analyze and reconcile accounting data and transactions.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain budget and financial records for the department or unit.
  • Create and maintain a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and team orientation.
  • Apply generally accepted accounting principles in recording financial activity in accounting systems and varied subsystems.
Core Competencies
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Good communication skills, written and oral.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial reports.
  • Knowledge of job-relevant policies and procedures at the state and federal levels.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting AND Three (3) years of professional accounting job-related experience, which includes One (1) year in a supervisory role.
OR 
  • Two (2) years of experience at the lower level Accountant Spv (FIP024) or equivalent position. 

Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all the following education/skills/experience:     

  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience in accounting and/or related fiscal activity.
