Für unseren Kunden aus dem Energiesektor mit Sitz in Berlin suchen wir einen Data Operations Engineer (m/w/d). Die Aufgabe erfolgt Remote und ca. 3 Tage pro Woche vor Ort in Berlin. Über die Erstbeauftragung für das erste Quartal hinaus besteht eine langfristige Verlängerungsoption.


Our Client is building an internal platform for software product developers to accelerate the development and delivery of software products to tackle the massive challenges facing the energy sector. The Platform is a service oriented, cloud-native platform that is being built to provide application teams with self-service capabilities to develop, run and operate their software products. The Platform provides services for application infrastructure, data, service lifecycle management, application build and delivery as well as services to operate their software products. The Platform is deployed as a hybrid cloud, encompassing both private cloud and select public clouds.


The Data team within the program organization is responsible for developing core services of a hybrid data platform, such as a private cloud as well as public cloud and towards a future KRITIS infrastructure. Our client is looking for a talented and dedicated Operations Engineer to join our team, focusing on ensuring stability & reliability in operations of our day-to-day data technologies (databases, message broker, …) including automating typical deployment and maintenance tasks.


In this role, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining and managing data-related services and technologies within our Kubernetes infrastructure. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring the availability and reliability of our hybrid cloud platform services. You’ll collaborate closely with customer success, platform operations, software engineers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to enhance the performance and availability of our services.

Targets in that Position

  • Contribute towards processes for incident, problem, release and change management
  • Contribute towards shaping the operationalization of CICD and IaC/GitOps processes
  • Contribute towards the development of the data services, focus on reliability & stability
  • Help establishing an operations team comprised of internal and external employees

Profile Requirements

  • Excellent documentation and communication skills and proactive attitude
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, adapting to agile and DevOps methodologies for software development
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a focus on root cause analysis and sustainable solutions
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in identifying and addressing technical challenges
  • EU residency

Must-have competencies / Must-have skills

  • Operational experience with productive applications or systems (ideally containerized and distributed)
  • Thorough knowledge of containerization and container management, packaging of applications and customization of deployments
  • Ability to manage CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with various relational and non-relational data technologies (e.g. PostgreSQL, Kafka, etc.)
  • Experience with automation and infrastructure as code and/or gitOps
  • Experience with Kubernetes operators (with custom-build operators being a plus)
  • Experience with the usage of observability tools

Must-have language skills

  • Proficiency in both speech and writing in English (at least C1)

Preferred Competencies and skills

  • Deeper K8s skills and experience, e.g. k8s operators’ development experience and/or k8s operators for Big Data technologies)
  • Experience with hyperscalers (GCP and others)
  • Experience with data technologies
  • Good understanding of networking concepts, including protocols, load balancing, and security
  • Knowledge of ITSM frameworks
  • Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD , Gitlab CICD
  • Proficiency in German
  • Good Understanding of Continuous Delivery Practices
