Elementary (K-4) teacher to serve as a Pre-K-1st grade teacher.

Job Summary:
Burr Ridge C.C.S.D. 180 is seeking an individual to serve as a full-time Pre-K through 1st grade support teacher with familiarity with the Illinois State Standards. The successful candidate must be State certified with an ISBE Elementary Teaching certificate (Early Childhood or endorsed for teaching special education/LBS 1 Certification(s) prefered).

This position will work with our early childhood students in pre-k through 1st grade.

Qualifications:

Valid Illinois teaching certificate is required.
Proof of negative TB test
Completed on-line application
Completed fingerprinting via ROE

Working Conditions:

The Stepping Stone Program is designed to proactively support these students so that they can successfully transition into the general classroom setting and thrive academically and socially.

Program Overview

The Stepping Stone Program will provide targeted, short-term, intensive supports for students identified by the school team as needing additional preparation to meet classroom expectations.

The program is designed to:
? Address social-emotional learning, self-regulation, and school-readiness skills.
? Support positive behavior through explicit instruction, modeling, and consistent reinforcement.
? Provide a safe, structured environment where students can practice skills before applying them in the general classroom.
? Decrease reliance on crisis interventions, discipline, and external supports.

Dedicated Teacher:

A certified teacher will serve as the program lead. This teacher will provide direct instruction in small groups, co-teach in classrooms, and deliver individualized supports as needed.

Small Group & Classroom Support:

Students will receive targeted small-group instruction in areas such as self-regulation, problem-solving, communication, and following routines. The teacher will also provide in-class support to help students transfer these skills into their daily learning environment.

Flexible Entry/Exit:

Students will participate in the program based on team referrals and demonstrated need. The goal is for students to successfully return full-time to their general education classroom.

Collaboration:

The program teacher will collaborate closely with classroom teachers, social workers, and families to ensure consistency in strategies and supports.
