Job Summary
The Safety Coordinator works within the manufacturing plant to ensure compliance with all required company safety policies/programs and OSHA standards.
Hours: 8am-5pm M-F, some weekends as needed
Essential Duties/Responsibilities

- Administer Darling Ingredients Safety program which includes, but is not limited to, conducting OSHA safety training for new employees, annual training of employees, monthly safety committee facility walk-through, accident investigations, and advising safety committee members in accident review process.
- Plan, organize, schedule, and conduct inspections of facility, work areas, and equipment.
- Assess risk, determine scope, and recommend changes to improve implementation of Darling's safety program throughout the facility.
- Provide assistance during accident/near-miss investigations.
- Manage and participate in all aspects of Safety.
- Ensure safety compliance with local, state and federal safety regulations.
- Ensure proper monitoring and operation of safety equipment and required PPE.
- All other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- 2 years of experience in safety management; preferred experience in a manufacturing, food production or agri-business environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Safety or a related field.
- Highly organized; superior time management skills.
- Exceptional communication skills both written and oral.
- Self-motivated; self-starter; able to multi-task.
- Works well with others in a team environment.
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
- Occasionally required to lift, push, pull or move up to 50 lbs.
- Regularly required reach with hands and arms.
- Occasional overnight travel by personal vehicle or airplane.
Work Environment
Job functions will be carried out in an office, plant, outdoor property or field environment.
