We are looking for a CNC Machinist to help turn cutting-edge designs into precision parts. You’ll produce both prototype and production components, being a part of the process from CAD/CAM to first-off. Using CAMWorks/Mastercam/SolidWorks models as well as our range of Haas CNC machines, you’ll create efficient toolpaths, optimise setups, and deliver high‑quality parts to tight deadlines.
What will you do:Set up and run CNC mills and lathes, delivering parts to tight tolerances.Create, verify, and approve CNC milling programs (CAMWorks/Mastercam from SolidWorks), optimizing for quality, cost, and tooling; generate CAM from CAD/prints/verbal input.Read blueprints and apply GD&T; inspect parts and make quality decisions.Collaborate with Engineers, Supervisors, Estimators, Quality, and customers to clarify requirements, fix documentation issues, and troubleshoot production problems.Manage job flow, materials, and quick‑turn deadlines to ensure on‑time delivery.Perform routine cleaning and maintenance on machines and shop equipment.Follow Protolabs processes, quality, safety, and 5S standards; escalate issues appropriately; perform other duties as needed.What it takes:Multiple years’ experience as a within CNC machining with both online and offline programming exposureKnowledge of Machining in a prototype manufacturing setting or related experience and education.Familiarity with the tools of the trade; Microsoft Office suite of products, SolidWorks, Camworks, Mastercam.Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments such as protractors, calipers, height gauges.Ability to interpret and explain written and statistical data.Strong attention to detail and communication skills. Ability to manage time and prioritize work in an effective manner.Highly developed, demonstrated teamwork skills.Demonstrates a high degree of confidentiality.Demonstrated ability to increase productivity and continuously improve methods, approaches, and departmental contribution while being cost-sensitive.Commitment to continuous learning.
