Youth Specialist
Reports to: Children’s Services Program Manager
Location: 1603 Court Street, Syracuse, NY 13208
Schedule: Full and Part Time Schedules Available
Pay Rate: $19.00 - $21.50 Hourly

Our focus is supporting individuals by ways of residential housing, mental health and clinical services, and immersing our participants in community engagement. Working closely with the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and the Office of Mental Health, we support 27 housing locations and 3 administrative buildings.
About the Role:
We are looking for a proactive employee to provide person-centered services and support children and their families who are enrolled in Children’s HCBS and OPWDD services, in order to achieve increased independence, and to maintain their health and safety.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting and assisting child with activities of daily living (ADL)
- Implementing behavioral support plans and guidelines
- Offering choices and opportunities for the child to engage within the community
- Monitoring and maintaining the safety of the child while in the home, community, and during transportation
Requirements
Education & Experience:
No education or experience necessary. High school diploma/GED, preferred. Experience working with children with disabilities and/or mental health diagnoses, preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, required. Basic word process and e-mail skills, required.
Conditions of Employment
Must possess a valid driver’s license and transportation necessary to meet program needs. Must be able to demonstrate direct care duties including personal assistance. Must be willing to visit children and families in their home setting. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
