Position Title: Business Development Intern

Status: Temporary Internship (40+ hours per week) Non-Exempt
Duration: January 1, 2026 – May 31, 2026 (date range is flexible)

Department: Sales

Reports to: Sales Manager

Location: Remote

 

Job Summary

The Business Development Intern is responsible for supporting the Sales Manager in all areas of organizational sales with positive and enthusiastic representation of the organizational brand and the backyard poultry industry. The Business Development Intern facilitates relationships with customers and partners, serving as an important point of contact.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Sales Manager to facilitate successful sales and customer relationships.
  • Works closely with store managers and other store team members.
  • Train and educate store team members on processes needed for a successful chick days event.
  • Is responsible for coordination, set-up, and attendance of trade shows including partnering with Marketing for prework and follow-up.
  • Cultivate relationship with Ready to Lay to retail growers.
  • Conducts on-site retail store visits.
  • Partners with organizational department leaders to enhance partner and customer outcomes.
  • Identifies prospective customers and maintains positive relationships with existing customers to facilitate expected sales growth.
  • Follows up on all sales leads and customer/partner interactions to create and nurture positive professional relationships.
  • Communicates with existing and potential customers to provide answers to questions and recommendations for future sales.
  • Performs sales analyses to track growth as well as understand trends and underperformance.
  • Plan and prepare important spreadsheets and documents for 2027 planning.
  • Helps set chick day events with retailers.
  • Helps with new program Ready to Lay to retail events.
  • Works with retailers at training events, shows, and/or webinars.
  • Knowledge of SOPs and maintain SOP database.
  • Performs all other tasks as assigned by management.

 

Job Qualifications

  • Degree in business, communication, or related field, and/or comparable experience required
  • Ag background preferred
  • Event coordination experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, (such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret important instructions, guidelines, and communications and respond accordingly
  • Excellent and effective verbal and written communication
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently
  • Proficiency in video conferencing technology (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.)

Travel Requirements

  • Travel required – up to 40%



Physical Demands

  • This position requires overnight travel
  • Requires the ability to tolerate unpleasant odors associated with eggs and poultry of various quality
  • Normal corrective vision range, ability to see color and distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols
  • Frequently required to sit, walk, talk, hear, bend, reach, and stand.
  • This position may require heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs.
