Senior Infrastructure Engineer

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Senior Infrastructure Engineer with deep expertise in either Windows or Linux environments, with some level of proficiency in both. This role will focus on managing and optimizing our Azure cloud services, Microsoft 365, and on premise and cloud Windows and Linux server infrastructures. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver with strong automation skills and a passion for ensuring system reliability and performance.

This position may be eligible for the possibility of remote work.

Key Responsibilities:

Cloud and Collaboration Management:

  • Manage and maintain Azure cloud services and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Implement and optimize cloud-based solutions for scalability and efficiency.

Server Infrastructure Management:

  • Administer and support both Windows and Linux server environments, with a focus on either platform as an area of expertise.
  • Ensure server security, stability, and performance.

Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution:

  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and system issues across diverse environments.
  • Implement proactive monitoring and maintenance strategies.

Automation and Scripting:

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools (e.g., Anisble, Terraform, PowerShell, Bash, Python) to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles where applicable.

Security and Compliance:

  • Implement and manage security protocols and procedures to protect sensitive data and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless and reliable IT services.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field of study required.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum experience: Four (4) years of IT experience with experience in infrastructure operations and engineering environments.

Core Expertise:

  • Expert-level knowledge and experience in either Windows Server administration or Linux server management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the other platform.

Cloud and Collaboration:

  • Extensive experience with Azure cloud services and Microsoft 365.

Automation and Scripting:

  • Strong experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, Bicep/ARM, Python).

Problem-Solving and Analysis:

  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies.

Teamwork and Communication:

  • Participate in on-call rotations
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $86,320 - $154,960 per year for the role of Senior Infrastructure Engineer.
