Job Description

We're looking for a highly motivated and experienced Technical Services Manager (m/f/d) to lead our field service, field applications, and technical support operations in the DACCS region - Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic.If you have a consistent track record in field service and/or applications management and are passionate about leading a team to deliver exceptional customer service, we encourage you to apply.

A day in the Life:

  • Lead an impactful Team: Manage, coach, and develop a team of field service engineers and applications specialists, and team leaders.
  • Ensure Operational Excellence: Oversee all technical support, maintenance, and repair services for our customer base, ensuring timely and effective service and support to direct customers, and channel partners in Eastern Europe.
  • Direct Performance: Prepare detailed reports on field service activities, proactively supervising key performance metrics to drive improvement.
  • Coordinate Customer Installations: Plan and coordinate the installation of our in vitro diagnostics (IVD) systems at customer laboratories.
  • Build Strong Customer Relationships: Serve as a key point of contact for our customers, understanding their needs and ensuring issues are addressed promptly and professionally.
  • Provide Technical Leadership: Support your team by leading efforts to diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues, providing solutions that meet customer requirements.
  • Support Business Growth: Provide technical expertise for public tenders and other revenue-generating activities.
  • Lead Financial Performance: Take full ownership of the local service Profit & Loss (P&L), including budgeting, forecasting, and navigating headcount requirements and resourcing to meet business objectives
  • Coordinate Service Logistics: Handle local inventory levels of spare parts and consumables implementing cost-centric practices.
  • Collaborate with Key Stakeholders: Work closely with cross-functional partners in Global Services, Sales and Marketing, Quality Assurance, and Logistics to ensure flawless operations.
  • Ensure Compliance: Implement and maintain quality procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.

Keys to Success: 

Education 

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as biomedical engineering or clinical laboratory science. 
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within field service or field applications management, ideally within the IVD industry. 
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a service P&L, including budget and resource planning. 
  • Experience in project management, including planning and resource prioritization, is a plus. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 

  • A strong leader with a proven ability to manage and develop field-based teams.
  • Business and financial acumen to effectively manage the P&L and make data-driven decisions. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • High level of technical proficiency and strong problem-solving abilities. 
  • Fluency in both German and English is required, both written and verbal. Additional European languages are an advantage. 

 

Physical Requirements / Work Environment 

This position is field-based in Germany. You can expect to travel up to 40% of the time to customer locations, various Thermo Fisher Scientific offices, and for international travel as needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.
