Description
The Operator Mechanic will provide safe and effective operation and maintenance of a Combustion Turbine (CT) generation facility in Remington, Virginia at the ODEC Marsh Run Generation Facility. The individual will be responsible for the startup and shutdown of plant systems in addition to performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and monitoring of plant equipment.
Essential responsibilities include:
- Startup and shutdown of plant systems, including the main Combustion Turbines.
- Perform preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting and monitoring of plant equipment.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections, water chemistry monitoring, and necessary measures to maintain the plant.
- Proficient in the operation of GE 7FA gas turbines upon completion of the Operator Qualification Program.
The Operator Mechanic will cover shift work at Marsh Run Generation site. This individual will work a rotating shift, both days and nights, 12 hours per shift, up to a 48-hour work week except when assigned additional overtime by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidate will have a minimum 3 years’ experience in power plant operations, fundamentals, and processes. Equivalent military or industrial electrical or mechanical experience will be considered.

Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Beginner level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and OneDrive
Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Work outdoors for long periods of time while exposed to various weather conditions at a generation facility
- Walk on uneven surfaces and stack platforms and climb stack ladders hundreds of feet high
- Distinguish colors and accurately read and interpret instruments and gauges
- Hear and understand audible alarms and detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communication
- Occasionally work in confined spaces
- Occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds
