Arkansas State Parks Historic Preservation Participant
Position Dates: September 29, 2025- December 20, 2025 (dates subject to change)
Position Location: Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park
About us:
The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and adults. Program participants protect and restore national parks, national forests, wildlife refuges, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, community green spaces, and much more across the country.
Position Description:
Join the staff at Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park in their efforts to preserve Arkansas's rich and varied history. Job tasks will vary but may include:
Key Duties
Cataloging artifacts or archival collections, historical research, interviewing and transcribing oral histories, and developing and presenting educational programs.
Marginal Duties
Giving guided tours of historical facilities, and other related tasks. Specific job tasks include restructuring the Morrow House, a 19th-century log structure that served as a Confederate Army headquarters, inventorying and digitizing Prairie Grover Battlefield State Park History, and inventorying a collection of items from the United Daughters of the Confederacy,
Priority will be given to interns from universities who provide course credit hours for internships. Selected interns will coordinate directly with their universities to obtain credit for their work.
