Public Programs Manager (Full Time, Exempt)
The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum has an opening for a full-time exempt Public Programs Manager position.
Company Overview: Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum documents and interprets the history of country music—a musical genre and culture central to the identity of the city, the state, and the nation. Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the museum proudly combines subject expertise, ambitious research, and preservation of an unparalleled collection with expressions of creativity in music, art, and history. The museum collects artifacts that illustrate the evolving history and traditions of country music and provides diverse learning opportunities through educational programs, publications, and exhibitions. The core exhibit follows the story of country music from its folk beginnings through its evolution as a commercial art form. Rotating exhibits examine a broad range of topics, from country classics to contemporary and emerging artists in American Currents. The museum owns Hatch Show Print, a letterpress print shop opened in 1879, and it operates Historic RCA Studio B, where Elvis Presley and many others recorded.
What We Offer for Full-Time Staff:
Departmental Overview: Charged with the mission of educating varied audiences about country music, the public programs team develops in-person and digital interviews, performances, and other events that illuminate the stories, themes, artists, and music explored in the museum’s galleries. These products and resources support adult learners and curious music fans with informative and inspirational content in the museum’s theater and online. A creative, curious, and organized team, public programs staff share a passion for country music, popular culture, and lifelong learning and regularly collaborate to develop and implement dynamic educational offerings commensurate with one of the most-visited history museums in America.
Position Overview: The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum seeks an individual with significant knowledge of and interest in country music, popular culture, and history to envision and implement engaging programs for museum visitors. Primary responsibilities include coordination of the museum’s Saturday Songwriter Session and Sunday Musician Spotlight series, as well as film screenings, multi-media interviews, and performances. This position administers all aspects of these educational program’s development and execution, including researching and scheduling artists, musicians, and program facilitators; writing program descriptions and publicity materials; completing administrative responsibilities and facilitating inter-departmental communication; coordinating day-of-show logistics and schedules; coordination of post-production tasks and scheduling for online programs; supporting the museum’s content marketing strategy with recommendations for re-purposing archival program clips; and reporting and documenting program outcomes, among other tasks. The museum’s programs are planned with clear goals and objectives that reflect the institution’s educational mission and expand the stories told in the museum galleries. The work week is typically Wednesday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some evenings are required.
