We are seeking a technically skilled and motivated Engineering Intern to support the development of automotive exterior lighting systems, including headlamps, tail lamps, DRLs (Daytime Running Lights), and signal lighting. The intern will work under the mentorship of a Technical Specialist, gaining hands-on experience across the full product development cycle—from concept and design through release and launch. 

 Your Role 

  • Assist in the design and engineering of exterior lighting components and systems, focusing on both mechanical and electrical integration. 
  • Support the release of engineering documentation such as CAD models, drawings, and BOMs. 
  • Participate in supplier reviews and help resolve issues during prototype and production builds. 
  • Contribute to launch readiness activities including validation testing, regulatory compliance checks, and build support. 
  • Maintain documentation for design reviews, program milestones, and gateway deliverables. 

Qualifications 

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. 
  • Strong electro-mechanical background, with understanding of lighting technologies, thermal management, and electrical interfaces. 
  • Prior internship or project experience in the R&D department of a leading Tier 1 lighting supplier or OEM is required. 
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks) and basic knowledge of lighting simulation or testing tools is a plus. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Fluent in English; German is a plus. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Previous internship or project experience in automotive or consumer product development. 
  • Familiarity with vehicle packaging, materials, and manufacturing processes.
