USU Extension in Morgan County is seeking a motivated and positive person to work as a staff assistant. The Staff Assistant II position performs a variety of administrative support and secretarial duties for the Morgan County Extension office, providing primary assistance to faculty and coordinators. Incumbents in the level II position are expected to possess the knowledge and experience to perform more complex and technical tasks. Hours will be Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm, at the USU Extension Morgan County office location in Morgan, Utah. This is a full-time benefited position. Applicants should be able to work well independently and in a team. Some rare evening and weekend work may be necessary. Estimated start date is September 15, 2025. This position reports to the County Director faculty member over the USU Extension office in Morgan County.
Responsibilities:- Perform office duties, including answering calls/emails, directing calls to appropriate staff, data entry, digital management of documents, and other general duties as assigned.
- Provide administrative support, including scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings, and maintaining/ordering office supplies.
- Serve as a liaison with other county and university departments and constituencies in the resolution of matters concerning the activities and operations of the office.
- Sorts, screens, and distributes incoming and outgoing email messages.
- Compose and write various standard documents, correspondence, and reports.
- Regularly update and curate content for website and social media.
- Assist with advertising, marketing and recruiting participants for USU Extension programs.
- Compile data for grant reports or presentations.
- Assist program participants, staff, and superiors with highly varied, complex questions and/or problems.
- Work independently to provide high-level administrative support to complex situations related to the program.
- Travel as needed for program meetings and outreach events.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two years of experience in an office setting or an associate degree/vocational training
Preferred Qualifications:
- Four years of experience; or an associate degree/technical training plus two years of experience; or a bachelor’s degree 2 years of work experience with budgets, records and/or accounts.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Record of collaborating well in and with teams.
- Practice in managing a busy schedule while providing a high level of customer service.
- Excellent written, verbal, and technical communication skills.
- Achiever with a record of meeting monthly/yearly goals, timelines, and deadlines.
- Strong written, oral, organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple faculty and program coordinators.
- Ability to work well under pressure and coordinate multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work independently; self-driven.
- Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
- Knowledge of USU policies and procedures a plus.
