Substitute Health Room Assistant

Position Summary: Responsible for providing care to students and staff under the supervision and guidance of the school’s registered nurse.

Qualifications:

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• CPR and First Aid Certification, recommended
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology
• Basic math skills required

Essential Job Functions include the following:

• Provides first aid in accordance with the “Health Procedure Manual”
• Administers medication under the supervision of the school nurse
• Documents student visits, care, dispositions and medications administered and accidents/incidents
• Performs general clerical duties as assigned by the school nurse
• Maintains confidentiality of all information encountered in the scope of responsibilities
• Consults with a Registered Nurse when situation is outside bounds of procedure manual or when treatment advice is necessary
• Attends in-service training sessions
• Provides information to parents regarding student health, community resources, etc. as directed by the school nurse
• Performs general clinical duties as assigned, trained and supervised by the school nurse
• Other duties may be assigned
