Description

This position is for a Wound Care Treatment Nurse (LPN or RN) whose responsibility is to provide direct nursing activities for residents receiving therapeutic and diagnostic services in the Long-Term Care department, in accordance with accreditation standards, federal, state, and local regulations, organizational and departmental policies and procedures and professional standards.  Participates in activities that ensure the safe and efficient provision of Nursing care adolescent, adult and geriatric resident populations.  Refers unusual clinical problems to the Registered Nurse.  Responsible for the supervision of skilled personnel during an assigned shift.  The position reports to the Director of Nursing

Qualifications

 JOB QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum level of Education: Education level equivalent to completion of an associate degree in nursing. 

2. Formal Training: Clinical competence in nursing preferred.

3. Licensure, Certifications & Registration: Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Georgia; BLS certification required.

4. Work Experience: Basic technical nursing skills. Basic computer skills. Completion of a clinical preceptorship while a student nurse if no work experience yet attained.

4. Completes required competencies, licensure, certification and registration recertification in a timely manner, as well as participate in continuing education.  
5. Arrives to work on time, on scheduled days, during scheduled hours.  Maintains flexibility with work schedule in meeting the needs of the department.
6. Provides age specific care demonstrating knowledge of growth and development, system assessment and developing an interdisciplinary plan of care addressing culture, religion and ethnic preferences.
7. Attends mandatory departmental meetings and in-services.
8. Utilizes equipment and materials in a cost effective manner.
9. Participates in performance improvement activities.
10. Serves as a preceptor in orienting and/or training new personnel.
11. Follows chain of command whenever issues or problems arise which are beyond scope of practice.
12. Performs essential job functions in an acceptable quantity and quality.
