Position Summary
•Responsible for the provision of Retail/Outpatient Pharmaceutical Care Services to all patients including employees.
Education
•Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B. Pharm- Minimum) or
•Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D., Preferred)
Licenses and Certification
•Illinois license of Pharmacy
•Basic Life Support (BLS), required within 90 days of hire.
Experience and Skills
•1-2 years as a pharmacist in any setting.
•Technical Experience: N/A
Role Specific Responsibilities
•Oversees all accountabilities associated with compounding and dispensing of retail medications as well as for providing patient specific information on side effects, interactions and expected benefits of the medications dispensed.
•Perform inventories of all controlled medications as required by state and federal laws.
•Perform DUR prior to dispensing of medications.
•Report medication errors/adverse drug events using the organization reporting system for quality improvement.
•Ensure pharmacy prescription software updates as required.
•Review, monitor and inform employees/patients of insurance plan changes impacting their prescriptions/ordered medication.
•Supervise and direct pharmacy technicians ensuring the accuracy of their work in accordance with department procedures and Federal and State regulations.
•Participates in community health related events.
•Maintains competence in pharmacy, including assigned areas and required continuing education.
•Orders medication from suppliers, reconciles invoices, and processes supplier returns.
