Overview:

The London Borough of Harrow is looking for an Occupational Therapist to provide a high-quality and effective occupational therapy service for adults and children that responds to the needs of people, their carers, and their families in a timely manner. This includes providing preventative support to promote independence and responsibility for assessing, developing, reviewing and monitoring individual care plans in relation to adaptations, equipment, and moving and handling for independent living. 

 

All assessments and support plans will be completed in accordance with the well-being principles of the Care Act 2014 and reflect a strengths-based approach.  

 

As part of the role, the post holder will be required to travel regularly to peripheral equipment stores to collect, deliver, fit, and assess residents with low-level equipment in their own homes. Therefore, a valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes are essential. The post holder must also have the physical ability to safely manage and carry out the manual aspects of this role.

 

Guidance, support and supervision will be provided in accordance with the individual’s experience and capabilities and in line with our Supervision Policy.  

About you:

The successful candidate will have: 

  • Dip COT (state registered) or Degree in Occupational Therapy. 
  • Registered with HCPC  
  • Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. 
  • Ability to maintain and demonstrate Royal College of Occupational Therapy guidelines and standards of practice, including maintaining accurate and comprehensive records. 
  • Good understanding of relevant legislation including Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005, demonstrate the ability to work in accordance to the Care Act Statutory guidance, MCA Code of Practice.  
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent or has the equivalent relevant work experience. 
  • Full UK driving license 
  • Access to a vehicle for work purposes
