ASSISTANT DIRECTOR - INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY
The job of Assistant Director – Instructional Technology is done for the purpose of supporting and advancing the integration of technology into classroom instruction across PreK–12 environments. This position works at the intersection of technology and teaching by overseeing professional development, supervising instructional technology personnel, coordinating with departments on technology resource implementation, and ensuring the effective use of digital tools to support learning outcomes. The Assistant Director serves as a liaison between the Technology Department and Academic Services and contributes to district-wide instructional strategy.

SKILLS
Required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment, including utilizing pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects and programs; overseeing program financial activities; developing effective working relationships; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and administering personnel policies and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE
Required to perform algebra and/or geometry; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: IT service management; pertinent laws, codes, policies, and/or regulations; personnel processes; standard business practices; current generation and emerging programming languages; networking technologies and operating systems.
ABILITY
Required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of types of job-related equipment. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working with multiple projects, frequent interruptions, and changing work priorities; working with detailed information/data and maintaining accurate records; maintaining confidentiality; and facilitating communication between persons with frequently divergent positions.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives; managing a department; and monitoring budget expenditures. Utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the organization’s services.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in K–12 education, including experience with instructional technology integration.
Education: Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Educational Leadership, or a related field required.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board of Education. Benefits according to Board policies.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance-Based Support Staff Evaluation process.
