DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Works as a Massage Therapist within an Armed Service Recreation Center (AFRC) under general supervision. Provides individualized massage therapy treatment. The massage therapist utilizes standard guest evaluation procedures to formulate a treatment plan. The massage therapist incorporates various massage therapy and bodywork techniques taught within their professional education. The massage therapist performs massage therapy services of greater complexity with limited supervision and coordinates follow-up care as indicated. The massage therapist is responsible for changing linens between guests, refilling oils, cleaning the massage table/chair/armrest, and providing a clean and calm environment. Must be trained in several types of massage (Swedish, Sports Specific, Deep Tissue, Hot Stones, Chair, etc. Will also offer various body wraps and scrubs as necessary. The massage therapist provides massage therapy instruction for self-care to guests as determined appropriate. The massage therapist educates guests on a healthy lifestyle, including hydration, basic nutrition, stretching, exercise, mind-body techniques, sleep habits, stress management, and other matters related to massage therapy care. The massage therapist is required to use various communication techniques to encourage and educate individuals to enhance massage therapy outcomes. May be responsible for coordinating schedules, taking reservations, and collecting payments from guests. May be responsible for completing the end-of-shift paperwork and dropping off the money. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

RESUMES MUST BE TWO PAGES (OR LESS). QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE CLEARLY VERIFIABLE IN YOUR RESUME. GOVERNMENT POSITIONS MUST INCLUDE PAY PLAN, SERIES, GRADE, TO AND FROM DATES, AND GOVERNMENT AGENCY/DEPARTMENT. Must include at least one year of experience performing duties at a level which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform successfully in the position. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be currently licensed, registered, or certified to practice as a massage therapist in a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Acceptable credentials must have required successful completion of a minimum 500-hour massage therapy education program and pass the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination, National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork Examination, or equivalent state-issued examination. All Qualified applicants will be rated against the highly qualifying criteria by a rating panel for evaluation of the quality and extent of your total accomplishments, experience and education. Those applicants determined to be highly qualified will be referred to the hiring official for consideration. The highly qualified candidates may undergo an interview and reference checks. All answers to the Highly Qualifying Criteria must be demonstrated in your resume to get credit.

Education

High School graduate or equivalent. All candidates (to include current employees) are required to include transcripts with their application package. Other Information

This is a limited tenure position not to exceed 15 months. It is an unaccompanied program because we cannot provide logistical support to family members. Dorm-style housing is provided in lieu of a living quarters allowance. Transportation to and from Germany is provided in accordance with the terms of the Joint Travel Regulation and the executed transportation agreement. Military spouses and family members currently residing within the Garmisch Military Community who apply under this announcement will be considered for a regular appointment.
