The Fort St John Association for Community Living (FSJACL) is a non-profit agency which has been providing quality supports to adults with developmental disabilities in the Fort St John and District since 1960. The FSJACL is an accredited agency with a trained, caring and trusted professional team of over 60 employees who provide quality services and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. The FSJACL works collaboratively with community partners to achieve our vision of inclusion for all.
Job Summary:
Develops, implements, monitors and evaluates training plans in a variety of work settings designed to meet clients’ vocational, social and daily living goals in our Careers & Employment department.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Identifies clients’ interests, skills and abilities by conducting interviews and consulting caregivers.
Develops, with the participation of clients, training plans, including pre-employment skill development, designed to meet the individual’s goals in the areas of daily living and social skills and job readiness. Implements, monitors, evaluates and modifies training plans.
Trains, supports and monitors clients in a variety of work settings in areas such as work skills, proper hygiene, product quality, quantity and service expectations.
Provides reports on clients’ skill level and progress to the supervisor and other caregivers and makes recommendations on modifications to the goals.
Locates employers in local businesses, industries and community agencies that match the interests, skills and abilities of clients. Encourages employers to participate in placements.
Encourages client participation in community activities and encourages relationships and friendships in the community.
Follows up job placements by assisting employers to work with clients through problem solving and troubleshooting.
Liaises with community service providers in order to promote the program.
Facilitate training out in the community, along with work ready programs for multiple participants at a time.

Shifts:
Primarily 8:30am-4:30pm. May require to work evenings and weekends based on individuals needs. Can work up to 37.5 hours per week – and shifts can be topped up to 40 hours per week.

Wage: This is a BCGEU unionized position, Grid Level 11. ($27.54-$31.61/ hour, based on seniority or equivalent experience)
