We are looking for Safety Compliance Administrator who will take a proactive approach to safety by developing and implementing both short- and long-term objectives. Working closely with management, this position offers cooperative-wide safety leadership that is prevention focused and fosters an active, engaged safety culture. It is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and overseeing regulatory compliance, safety programs, providing training, and loss control initiatives to minimize costs and reduce risk exposure. Key responsibilities include promoting a safety first mindset, delivering effective and impactful training, conducting audits, evaluating work environments for hazards, recommending control measures and corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.  Ultimately, this role supports the safety, health, and well-being of employees, contractors, members, the public, and property by ensuring business operations are conducted in a safe and responsible manner.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Promote a positive safety culture through education, engagement, and leadership.
• Research, develop, implement, and maintain safety compliance programs and procedures that meet the needs of the Association.
• Promote and ensure compliance with NRECA’s Rural Electric Safety Achievement Program (RESAP) by maintaining required documentation and supporting audit activities. 
• Stay current with OSHA, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), DOT, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), and other applicable regulations. 
• Develop, recommend, and maintain policies, procedures, and practices that ensure regulatory compliance; monitor changes in laws, regulations, and technical standards and communicate their impacts to stakeholders; and continuously update the Association’s Safety Manual and related protocols for timely integration and adherence. 
• Work with the Technical Services team to ensure all MVEA contractors have safety/compliance and training programs in place that meet required regulations prior to beginning contract work.  
• Ensure training programs are designed and aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices to maximize their effectiveness across all departments. 
• Design and deliver role-specific safety training (new hire orientation, monthly safety trainings for Operations and apprentices, refresher trainings, etc.) including workshops, and hands-on demos for employees and the community. 
• Provide technical advice, coaching, and mentoring to management, supervisors, and employees to build knowledge and promote safe work practices. Interact with all employees to identify and correct unsafe conditions or work practices.
• Diligently investigate employee accidents and incidents to determine root cause. Recommend remedial or preventative actions. Prepare necessary paperwork and reports and ensure timely updates to the VP of Operations and Director of Human Resources. Lead discussions on incidents and good catches with Safety Team member. 
• Collect, analyze, and report safety performance metrics, including trends, incidents, and training effectiveness to the Executive and Safety Team. Identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions, training needs, and program enhancements to strengthen safety culture and compliance. 

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required. An associate or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Management, or a related field may substitute for two years of professional experience.
• Minimum of five years in the electric utility industry, preferably with a focus on safety. Prior line work or line worker training is preferred. 
• Strong understanding of OSHA, DOT, and other relevant safety regulations.
• Certified Loss Control Professional (CLCP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP), or another BCSP-recognized certification preferred, or must e obtained within two years of hire. 
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification required (Instructor certification preferred or to be obtained within six months of hire). 
• Maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good training and presentation skills are required.
• Ability to assess employee training needs, and electric cooperative work environments for safety requirements.
• Knowledge of laws, codes, regulations, and rules regarding safety and compliance related to the Association.
• Experience and extensive knowledge to effectively use current Microsoft Office products.
