Job Description
Job Title: School Security Officer
Department: School Safety & Security
Reports To: Chief Officer of School Safety and Security
Compensation: $23.95 per hour (Estimated $50,000 annually)
Classification: Non-exempt
Summary:
School Security Officers (SSO) are responsible for ensuring the safety of staff and students of all Epic Charter School sites. First and foremost SSOs are security officers whose primary purpose is to keep schools a safe environment in which to learn. Secondly, SSOs are safety and security-related educators who instruct students and school staff about the policies and procedures in place for their protection. Third, SSOs serve as liaisons, working collaboratively with others to provide links to law enforcement and other community resources and services. Fourth, SSOs serve as role models for our students.

Qualifications
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and coworkers, both verbally and in writing. Ability to effectively present information to students, families and supervisors.
Mathematical Skills
Basic math skills required
Reasoning Ability
Ability to understand and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to determine reasonableness and probable cause in a critical incident, as required by state law.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have computer proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office and Google Suite with the ability to manage multiple computer screens. Knowledge of web conferencing/meeting tools. Must have a high aptitude to learn new software as necessary for the business operations of the school.

This position reports to an Epic office or microsite in Oklahoma City and will be required to travel to other Epic sites across the state as needed. The noise level is quiet to loud (when students are present.)
