Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Impyrian is seeking a highly capable and innovative Senior AI/ML Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced AI and machine learning solutions across multiple federal programs. The engineer will create intelligent automation systems to enhance decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and drive digital modernization efforts. This role demands strategic foresight, deep technical expertise, and a collaborative mindset, partnering closely with Data Engineers, Cloud Architects, Program Managers, and internal stakeholders to explore emerging AI capabilities and shape Impyrian’s AI strategy.

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable AI/ML solutions within cloud environments, utilizing frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
• Leverage natural language processing (NLP), predictive analytics, and automation to optimize process efficiency.
• Lead and facilitate R&D sessions exploring emerging AI trends, tools, and methodologies—collaborating with thought leaders, academic partners, and internal innovation teams to identify new capabilities and use cases.
• Integrate AI systems into digital modernization efforts, ensuring compliance, security, and operational effectiveness.
• Collaborate with developers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and leadership to identify new AI opportunities across projects.
• Develop and manage data pipelines, feature engineering, and model lifecycle management.
• Translate data-driven insights into scalable solutions that enhance operational decision-making.
• Guide junior team members, providing mentorship on best practices in AI/ML.
• Document technical solutions, model governance standards, and maintain project artifacts.
• Stay abreast of cutting-edge AI research and emerging technologies, proposing new initiatives for continuous innovation.

Required Qualifications

Education and Work Experience: 

• 5+ years of experience in AI/ML solution design, development, and deployment.
• 8-10 years of professional software development experience, specifically with frontend technologies like Angular or React.
• 6-8 years of experience working with relational databases such as Oracle and PostgreSQL.
• Proficiency in Python, with 5+ years of experience, and hands-on expertise with frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or comparable tools.
• Demonstrated success deploying AI solutions in multiple cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud, AWS).
• Strong understanding of data pipelines, feature engineering, and model lifecycle management.
• Experience with MLOps tools and practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.

Skills and Competencies:

• Prior experience working on DHS, CBP, or federal government projects is a plus.
• Knowledge of data privacy, security, and ethical considerations in AI deployment.
• Relevant certifications in cloud services or AI/ML areas.

Physical Requirements: 

• Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk or workstation.
• Prolonged use of a computer and keyboard, including typing and using a mouse.
• Ability to handle light lifting (up to 20-30 lbs), including office supplies, files, or small equipment.
• Frequent use of manual dexterity for tasks such as writing, filing, and operating office equipment (printers, scanners, etc.).
• Ability to walk or stand occasionally to attend meetings, interact with colleagues, or move around the office.
