As the Fleet Maintenance Division Manager at Metro Water Recovery (Metro), you will lead the strategic direction and daily operations of Metro’s Fleet Maintenance Division within the Resource Recovery & Reuse Department. You’ll ensure our vehicles, equipment, and facilities run at peak performance — supporting the delivery of essential services to our community. This is a chance to apply your technical expertise, leadership skills, and problem-solving ability to improve efficiency, enhance safety, and drive innovation in fleet operations. Metro offers competitive pay, excellent benefits, a flexible work schedule, and professional development opportunities to help you grow your career.
Why It’s a Great Department
The Resource Recovery & Reuse Department is at the heart of Metro’s mission to protect the environment, recover resources, and provide reliable service. Our Fleet Maintenance Division is a critical part of keeping Metro’s operations running smoothly — maintaining vehicles and equipment that support our farm, facilities, and operational sites. We foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement, where every team member’s expertise is valued. We work hard, support one another, and take pride in the essential work we do for our community.
How to Be Successful in the Role
As Fleet Maintenance Division Manager, you’ll balance strategic planning with hands-on leadership. You’ll manage a skilled team of supervisors, planners, and technicians; oversee vendor contracts; and ensure compliance with DOT and other safety regulations. Success will come from implementing a robust preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance program, using Metro’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track performance and identify efficiencies. You’ll collaborate across departments, provide clear communication, and model a results-driven, service-oriented approach. You will need to adapt quickly, juggle competing priorities, and maintain high operational standards in a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment.
Your Future in This Role
We’re looking for a leader who sees challenges as opportunities for improvement. In this role, you’ll develop innovative maintenance strategies, improve fleet reliability, and mentor a team committed to operational excellence. You’ll play a vital role in supporting Metro’s infrastructure and mission, with opportunities to shape how the Fleet Maintenance Division operates for years to come. Your work will directly impact service delivery, community trust, and Metro’s ability to meet its environmental and operational goals.
