The (PSR) Project Safety Representative is responsible for supporting the safe execution of electrical construction projects by ensuring compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific safety requirements. This role acts as the on-site safety resource, working closely with project management, foremen, electricians, and subcontractors to promote a strong safety culture, identify hazards, and implement corrective actions. This position will involve travel across the United States.
Safety Compliance & Oversight:
• Monitor daily work activities to ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, and other applicable standards.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits, focusing on electrical hazards, fall protection, lockout/tagout, and other high-risk activities.
• Verify that crews have proper PPE, tools, and equipment in good working condition.
Training & Communication
• Facilitate or assist with site safety orientations and toolbox talks.
• Communicate safety expectations to employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
• Provide on-the-spot safety coaching and correction as needed.
Hazard Identification & Incident Prevention
• Identify unsafe conditions and at-risk behaviors, document findings, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Assist Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Pre-Task Planning (PTP) to ensure hazards are addressed before work begins.
Incident Response & Reporting
• Respond to and assist in managing incidents, near misses, and first aid events.
• Conduct preliminary incident investigations and support root cause analysis.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and safety activities.
Collaboration & Support
• Work closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and corporate safety team to maintain a safe jobsite.
• Assist in developing and implementing site-specific safety plans.
• Support subcontractor compliance with safety requirements.
Knowledge
• Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and electrical safety regulations (including NFPA 70E)
• Understanding of common electrical construction hazards, PPE requirements, fall protection, and lockout/tagout procedures
• Knowledge of jobsite safety inspections, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and Pre-Task Planning (PTP) processes
• Familiarity with incident reporting, near-miss tracking, and corrective action procedures
• Electrical background and knowledge
Skills
• Ability to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and implement corrective actions promptly
• Strong communication skills to effectively deliver safety expectations, coaching, and toolbox talks
• Solid documentation and reporting skills for inspections, incidents, and safety activities
• Ability to work collaboratively with project management, field leadership, and subcontractors
• Strong organizational and time-management skills in fast-paced construction environments
Abilities
• Ability to maintain a visible, proactive safety presence on active electrical construction jobsites
• Ability to influence safe work behaviors across all levels of the workforce
• Ability to respond calmly and effectively to incidents and emergencies
• Ability to work independently while supporting multiple crews or work areas
• Ability to adapt to changing jobsite conditions and project schedules
License / Certification
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction - preferred
• OSHA 10-Hour Construction (minimum)
• First Aid / CPR / AED
• NFPA 70E Electrical Safety - preferred
• Competent Person (Fall Protection, Excavation, or LOTO) – preferred
• Valid driver’s license with ability to travel to project sites
