Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Grading Foreman to lead and oversee grading operations for substation construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership capabilities, a deep understanding of earthwork and grading techniques, and the ability to work collaboratively with site teams to ensure precise, timely, and safe grading operations that meet project specifications.
Responsibilities:

Supervise and coordinate the activities of the grading crew on substation job sites.

Interpret and execute site grading plans, blueprints, and specifications.

Ensure that grading work meets the required tolerances for elevation, slope, and compaction.

Operate and oversee the operation of heavy equipment including dozers, graders, loaders, and compactors.

Monitor site conditions and adjust operations to maintain erosion control, drainage, and site stability.

Schedule and assign tasks to grading crew members while ensuring productivity and quality.

Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company standards.

Communicate daily with project management and subcontractors regarding progress, issues, and schedules.

Inspect completed work to ensure quality and accuracy before transitioning to the next phase of construction.

Track and report on crew hours, equipment usage, material quantities, and jobsite conditions.
Qualifications:
-
Minimum 5 years of experience in grading, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.

Experience in substation or utility-scale civil construction is highly preferred.

Proficient in reading and interpreting civil drawings, grading plans, and topographical maps.

Strong knowledge of soil types, compaction requirements, and drainage systems.

Ability to operate and train others on heavy equipment used in grading operations.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Knowledge of GPS or laser-guided grading systems is a plus.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and travel to remote job sites as needed.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Prolonged periods of standing, walking, climbing, and bending.

Comfortable working in noisy, dusty, or rugged environments.
