Job Description
The Senior Manager, Software Engineering, leads engineering teams, driving the technical vision and strategy for complex software projects. This role involves guiding software engineers and shaping our software development strategy. Candidates need a deep technical expertise, interest in application integration, and preferably some startup experience. They should excel in project/feature delivery using Agile Scrum methodologies. Strong people management skills are essential. Cross-functional collaboration with Product Management, UX Design, and Customer Support, are key to achieving business goals.Technical Leadership: Offer very strong technical leadership and direction to the software engineering team, ensuring the development and integration of high-quality software solutions. Maintain the architecture for software systems, considering scalability, maintainability, and performance. Review system designs, code quality, and architecture decisions to ensure alignment with best practices and standards. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
Team Management: Develop and lead a capable and innovative software engineering team. Encourage a culture of innovation, teamwork, and continual improvement. Mentor team members to foster skill development and career progression.
Strategic Planning: Aid in formulating the software engineering roadmap and technical strategy. Align software development activities with the organization's overall goals in close coordination with executive leadership.
Project Execution: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple software projects, ensuring timelines, budget, and quality are met. Prioritize project initiatives, manage dependencies, and mitigate risks to achieve successful outcomes. Utilize Agile Scrum and SAFe methodologies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with various teams, including Product Management, UX designers and Customer Support.
Quality Assurance: Establish and uphold software quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability and performance of software products. They should be a champions of Test Automation.
Stakeholder Management: Communicate effectively with senior leadership, providing updates on project progress, technical challenges, and potential impacts on business goals. Advocate for the engineering team's needs and priorities to ensure alignment with broader organizational strategies.
Recruitment and Hiring: Engage in the recruitment and hiring process to grow the software engineering team as necessary. Attract top talent to the company.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field preferred.
6+ years of proven experience managing and leading high-performing software engineering teams building SaaS.
12+ years of software industry experience, preferably in the healthcare sector.
Strong background in software engineering, particularly in application development and integration.
Deep understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and architectural styles (Microservices, SaaS).
Strong experience in C# .NET 8 development environment.
Strong experience using NoSQL and SQL databases (MongoDb, Postgress).
Experience in DevOps automation for Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployments (Microsoft ADO Pipeline).
Experience in Cloud Environments (AWS).
Knowledge of payment, merchant processing, and medical billing-related applications (such as Stripe).
Knowledge of Telehealth applications and integration with video services vendors (Twilio, Zoom).
Knowledge of Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) applications and integration with such services (Visiquate).
Experience with healthcare integration standards is a plus.
Proven track record in managing and mentoring software engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills, collaborative mindset, and strong problem-solving abilities with a results-focused approach.
