Internship Snapshot:

The Marketing department is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Marketing Intern II to bring their creativity, data driven, and get-it-done skills to maximize the marketing opportunities at SAN.  

The selected candidate will not be stuck on the sidelines; they will be in the action. From helping bring integrated campaigns to life to shaping the future of SAN’s email marketing strategy, they’ll play a meaningful role in how we connect with our audiences. You’ll gain hands-on experience in creative production, campaign analytics, marketing operations, and cross-functional collaboration, while making a measurable impact in a fast-paced, public-facing organization. 

What You’ll Do:

• Support the execution and coordination of integrated marketing campaigns across email, web, social, and on-site channels, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and assets are organized and aligned. 
• Assist with creative production by coordinating marketing assets, organizing digital content libraries, reviewing materials for accuracy and brand consistency, and helping prepare materials for launch. 
• Provide logistical support for marketing initiatives and events, including scheduling, vendor coordination, materials preparation, and on-site execution assistance. 
• Compile and prepare recurring campaign performance reports, gathering data across platforms and summarizing key metrics, trends, and outcomes. 
• Manage the monthly production and distribution of SAN’s Go in the Know email newsletter, including coordinating content submissions, drafting and formatting emails, building campaigns in Brevo, and scheduling deployment. 
• Develop and maintain an annual editorial calendar in partnership with the Communications team to ensure strategic alignment, timely content planning, and consistent messaging. 
• Collaborate with the Business Intelligence team to grow and segment the subscriber database, applying audience insights to improve targeting and personalization. 
• Monitor email marketing performance metrics (open rates, click-through rates, engagement trends) and conduct A/B testing to recommend optimization strategies. 
• Develop a strategic recommendations report and implementation roadmap outlining opportunities to expand platform functionality, enhance engagement, and improve internal workflows.

Requirements

Ready to Fly? Educational Qualifications for Airport Interns*:

1. Students currently enrolled* in at least twelve (12) units at an accredited college may qualify.

2. Students in their final semester or quarter who need less than full-time enrollment to graduate with four (4) year degree need only be enrolled part-time in courses required for degree completion.

3. Educational major must be related to area of interest.

Pre-Flight Checklist: SAN Internship Onboarding:

Joining our Summer Internship program at the Airport Authority is an exciting opportunity, and we want to ensure a smooth onboarding process for the selected interns. Before the selected interns receive their boarding passes this summer, please take note of the following pre-conditions that must be fulfilled and approved prior to taking flight in our Summer Internship program:

• Post-Offer Pre-Employment Medical Examination and Substance Test:

Successful completion of a post-offer pre-employment medical examination and an alcohol/chemical substance test is mandatory.

• FBI Background Investigation:

A thorough background investigation, including an FBI fingerprint based criminal history records check, of your references and employment/education history from the last 10 years will be conducted. This includes a visit to our Access Control Office inside Terminal 2 in the San Diego International Airport, be camera ready!

• Proof of Citizenship or Legal Authorization:

Submission of documentation proving citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States is essential, complying with the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

• Completion of Onboarding Forms:

Timely completion of all required onboarding forms.
