About the Department



The County of San Diego is seeking a skilled and experienced Human Resources Analyst - Payroll

The current vacancy is in the Auditor and Controller - Central Payroll Administration Division. This position offers a hybrid work schedule with a combination of in-office and teleworking available after an initial training period. 

This position is responsible for administering premium payments and reconciliations; ensuring payroll corrections are prepared prior to payroll close; processing biweekly payroll, maintain payroll system configuration, working on special projects supporting payroll systems, running queries to ensure accuracy of payroll deductions, earnings, and taxes.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in the areas described above, be detail oriented, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, have a high level of computer proficiency in various software programs including Excel, be able to maintain strict confidentiality, and have excellent follow through.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1) Seven (7) years of professional human resources experience; OR,

2) Three (3) years of professional human resources experience, AND, a bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university or a certified foreign studies equivalency

Notes:  A master's or doctoral degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience; OR, additional years of experience as described above may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. 

Professional payroll experience is considered qualifying human resources experience for the minimum requirements.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

 

As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position. Current County employees may be excluded from this process.
