The Strong is seeking a dynamic and service-oriented People Operations Specialist to help lead our HR efforts in building an engaged, inclusive, and high-performing workplace. This hybrid role will serve as a strategic partner in the People and Culture team, overseeing key HR functions including HRIS and data management, benefits and total rewards administration, employee relations, compliance, and training.
You’ll play a leadership role by mentoring the HR Generalist and partnering closely with the VP of People and Culture to support organizational development initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to directly shape the employee experience at a mission-driven, world-renowned museum.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage key HR projects to ensure timely, successful outcomes.
Supervise and mentor the HR Generalist; provide coaching and support.
Guide employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations.
Oversee benefits, compensation, leave management, and ADA accommodations.
Manage the museum’s 403(b) retirement plan, including eligibility and contribution tracking.
Administer and optimize the HRIS system; maintain data accuracy and generate reports.
Use data analytics to identify workforce trends and inform decision-making.
Design and deliver training sessions on customer service, conflict resolution, and leadership.
Coordinate the annual performance review and benefits open enrollment processes.
Assist with the creation and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
Monitor compliance with labor laws and ensure accurate recordkeeping.
Collaborate with internal teams to support museum-wide wellness and IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility) initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of progressive experience in HR with a focus on people operations, benefits, HRIS, and employee relations.
Knowledge of employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO) and HR compliance.
Demonstrated ability to use HR data analytics to identify trends and support strategic decision-making, and proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office.
Strong experience with HRIS systems, data audits, and reporting.
Project management experience and ability to lead initiatives from concept to execution.
Strong interpersonal, coaching, and written/verbal communication skills.
High attention to detail, discretion, and organizational skills.
Commitment to IDEA principles and fostering a culture of belonging.
These qualifications are considered a plus:
- Professional certifications such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent.
