The City of Louisville is looking for a professional Code Enforcement Officer. This position will work within our Police Department’s Operations Division, and works under the direct supervision of a Police Sergeant. You will perform a wide array of activities involving the enforcement of City ordinances.
The Code Enforcement Officer performs a variety of specialized tasks, at times under difficult circumstances, to proactively enforce the City's codes. Work is performed with independence in the field; making decisions requiring the use of judgment, discretion, and diplomacy. Work is reviewed through observation, conferences, complaints resolved, and for results obtained. Performs other work as required.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works outside and is exposed to a variety of weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic. The employee is exposed to traffic and must operate a vehicle in adverse weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment varies from low to loud.
Physical Requirements of the Job:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, speak and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit in a vehicle for extended periods, reach with hands and arms, and taste or smell. The employee is required to stand, walk for extended periods of time, use hands, fingers, and handle objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
