An opportunity has arisen for a Technical Buyer to join our Kidlington based Procurement department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment.

About the Role

Management of the supply base to ensure effective supply of product and services delivered correct to specification, to schedule and at minimum cost to support Motorsport programme demand.

• Understand technical drawings and manufacturing processes to negotiate the best lead time, quality and cost;
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with a global supply network whilst continually challenging lead time, quality, and cost;
• Raise RFQs and Purchase Orders, expedite to ensure adherence to critical programme schedules;
• Liaise with the quality assurance team to lead the resolution of supplier quality concerns when non-conforming product is identified;
• Lead commercial negotiations including design and development, tooling and piece price;
• Complete commercial checks of NDA’s and Terms and Conditions to ensure that all are aligned with the business’s requirements;
• Encourage teamwork and effective communication to develop working relationships amongst all team members, functional groups and stakeholders within the business;

• Mentor procurement staff to develop their understanding of technical drawings and manufacturing processes;

• Support the Procurement Team Leader in ensuring individual tasks are completed to deliver programme and business objectives:

About You

• Relevant experience in a technical buying role. Motorsport experience preferred;
•  Ability to review and understand technical proposals, technical drawings and specifications;
•  Understand manufacturing processes in order to negotiate best cost and delivery;
•  Excellent problem solving skills;
•  Ability to work under own initiative and under pressure;
•  Excellent communication skills both written and verbal;
•  Excellent negotiation and influencing skills;
•  Strong analytical skills allied with an ability and commitment to meet deadlines;
•  The ability to establish strong relationships internally and externally;
•  The ability to react quickly to immediate operational requirements;
•  Supplier visits are part of the role, a clean driving license is essential;
•  Microsoft Excel and Office skills; Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience preferred;
•  Excellent attention to detail;
•  CIPS qualification preferred.
