Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Modeling & Simulation System Engineer - 2 or 3 to work at our Northridge, CA. location.

The successful candidate will be working with simulations that represent our AARGM family of missiles. These simulations are used as tools to verify that the missile system meets its requirements. The engineer will be assisting in this verification, and in investigating software and algorithm shortcomings that could be causing failures to meet requirements.

Daily work will include setting up simulation scenarios, analysis of simulation results, software development in python, matlab, and/or C++, requirements analysis, and requirements verification.

Basic Qualifications for a Modeling & Simulation System Engineer (Level 2): 

  • BS degree in aerospace engineering, physics, software engineering, systems engineering, or a related field with 2 years of experience or an MS degree with 0 years of experience is required.
  • Experience with requirements verification and validation, or in performing analysis with python or matlab.
  • Proficiency with C++, and either python or MATLAB.
  • Experience Object Oriented development in a Windows environment
  • Academic background with physics to understand the basics of flight dynamics and sensors. (Typical engineering level physics courses and material covered in first year engineering physics courses will suffice.)
  • Current Secret security clearance adjudicated within the past 5 years, and be able to obtain a SAP level program clearance.

Basic Qualifications for a Modeling & Simulation System Engineer (Level 3): 

  • BS degree in aerospace engineering, physics, software engineering, systems engineering, or a related field with 5 years of experience or an MS degree with 3 years of experience is required.
  • Experience with requirements verification and validation, or in performing analysis with python or matlab.
  • Proficiency with C++, and either python or MATLAB.
  • Experience Object Oriented development in a Windows environment
  • Academic background with physics to understand the basics of flight dynamics and sensors. (Typical engineering level physics courses and material covered in first year engineering physics courses will suffice.)
  • Current Secret security clearance adjudicated within the past 5 years, and be able to obtain a SAP level program clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with both python and matlab
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in high performance computing or monte carlo simulations.
  • Experience in Modeling and Simulation of weapon systems
  • Proficiency with CAMEO
  • Experience in Operational Analysis
  • Experience with AFSIM
  • Experience in flight dynamics
  • Active Secret or SAP level Clearance.

Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00Salary Range 2: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
