Summary: The Wire Transfer & Debit Card Manager oversees the daily operations of the bank’s wire transfer department and manages the debit card program as a secondary function. This role ensures secure, accurate, and timely processing of domestic and international wire transfers, effective management of debit card issuance and maintenance, and compliance with all regulatory and operational standards. The position also focuses on operational efficiency, risk management, and delivering exceptional service to both internal and external customers.


This role requires leadership skills, supervisory skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving operational challenges.


Requirements

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned duties in alignment with the Bank’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values, delivering timely, responsive, and exceptional service in accordance with the Bank’s customer service standards.
  • Recommend and support the hiring of quality personnel to meet operational needs. Manage team performance through effective coaching, development, and training across all areas of the Operations Support team.
  • Continuously assess department tasks and workflows for efficiencies, while ensuring strong internal controls are maintained.
  • Supervise the processing of inbound and outbound wire transfers, including foreign currency wires processed through correspondent banks.
  • Monitor workflows to ensure transactions are processed within established cut-off time.  
  • Assess and recommend contingency plans for system outages and operational disruptions.
  • Serve as escalation point for complex or unusual wire transfer and debit card issues.
  • Oversee the end-to-end debit card lifecycle, including issuance, reissues, replacements, and cancellations. Ensure timely resolution of cardholder issues related to lost/stolen cards, declined transactions, or disputes. Monitor debit card transaction activity for potential fraud or unusual patterns, escalating when necessary.
  • Provide guidance to the bank and clients on policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline operations through automation, system enhancements, or revised workflows.
  • Cleary communicate operational changes and best practices to team.
  • Partner with IT and vendors to implement upgrades and new functionality for both wire and debit card platforms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or 15 years equivalent bank specific work experience.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • 5+ years of banking operations experience with at least 2 years in wire transfer or payment processing management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of wire transfer systems (e.g. Fedwire, SWIFT, payment processing software)
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks at an individual level under a variety of conditions and constraints with minimal guidance.
  • Understanding of applicable regulations, including Reg E, UCC Article 4A, OFAC, and BSA/AML.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Excellent leadership, problem solving and communication skills
  • Ability to lead employees in accordance with the Bank’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of deposit services and other banking services.
  • Computer skills including Windows-based software, word processing and spreadsheet applications, internet usage, electronic mail, and bank software.
