Lifeline of Ohio coordinates and promotes organ, eye, and tissue donation across Ohio, and we are seeking a supervisor to lead our Organ and Surgical Recovery Night Shift team.
*This is a full-time, exempt, benefits eligible position.
Major Role Description
Consistent with the mission, vision and values of Lifeline of Ohio, maximize organ donation through exceptional donor management, allocation and organ recovery by forming strong, effective partnerships with donor hospitals and clinical teams. Ensure that no opportunity for donation is lost through a can-do attitude, asking the right questions and pursuing all possible avenues for donation. Collaborate with other department leaders to coordinate the collective achievement of organ recovery goals.
1. Provides oversite and guidance of day-to-day clinical department operations related to clinical management, allocation, recovery and overall coordination of donor related activities. Maintains an awareness of all active cases and pending activity to ensure optimal use of available resources.
2. Works with Administrators on Call (AOCs) and Triage Coordinators to direct team member resources during donor case activity. Problem solves with on-site organ team members and provides clinical and logistical expertise in all areas of the process to ensures compliance with regulatory standards / requirements as well as organizational policies and procedures.
3. In collaboration with the Manager of Organ & Surgical Services and hospital partners, develop processes, policies, and procedures that comply with hospital protocols and all applicable regulations.
4. Recommend and coordinate process improvement initiatives in partnership with Clinical Quality Improvement (CQI) team to address gaps in referral response performance.
5. Build, lead, and maintain a high-performing, highly-engaged team that embodies the organization’s values.
6. Cultivate and maintain a strong relationship with our non-clinical associates: QA, IT, Employee development / HR
7. Work with materials management specialist to ensure accurate and efficient inventory and supply ordering.
8. Assist in the development and management of the department budget in collaboration with the Manager of Organ & Surgical Services
9. Participates in activities, provides onsite mentorship, training, and education. Able to perform all the duties and responsibilities of all roles within the Organ Recovery Services on an as needed basis.
10. Perform other duties and complete special projects as assigned.
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in a standard office setting working at a desk or table on a level surface with on-call responsibilities. Travel to hospitals is expected within donation service area with occasional out of state meetings . May be required to work more hours than normal during a regular workweek depending on donor activity and other requirements. Flexible work hours may be required to accommodate donor activity.
This position is classified as a high exposure (clinical) occupation and does require Bloodborne Pathogens Training and Protection. The employee has been provided with protective clothing and personal training, and has been offered the HBV vaccine.
