Description
About Kenny Habetz Injury Law
At Kenny Habetz Injury Law, we combine advanced legal technology with compassionate advocacy for accident victims across Louisiana. Our clients come to us during genuinely difficult moments, and our commitment is to move their cases forward with both efficiency and care.
We work in pods, small collaborative teams that share ownership of their caseload. This position sits within a pre-litigation pod that is currently transitioning into a litigation pod, which shapes both the day to day work and the growth path attached to it. Our pods work together on site at our Metairie office, which is where the daily collaboration and the litigation training in this role happen.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Pre-Litigation Case Manager who is ready for the next step in their legal career. From day one, you will independently manage a full pre-litigation caseload from initial client contact through demand. This is a role for someone who has already developed strong pre-litigation judgment and is looking to build on it.
As your pod transitions into litigation, you will transition alongside it. You will learn pleadings, discovery, litigation deadlines and trial preparation with the support of the attorneys you already work with, and take on greater responsibility in those areas as the pod evolves. Pre-litigation expertise remains your foundation. Litigation becomes your next chapter.
If you have built real depth in pre-litigation and are ready to grow into litigation, this role was designed with you in mind.
Phase One: Pre-Litigation Case Ownership
You will guide clients through the pre-litigation phase of their case, from the first conversation after intake through the settlement demand.
Client Care and Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for your clients, making a personal introduction shortly after intake and staying in consistent contact throughout their case
- Keep clients informed at every stage so they always understand where their case stands and what happens next
- Gather the documentation and authorizations needed to move a case forward, and answer questions about the process with patience and clarity
- Support clients through the practical issues that follow an accident, including property damage and rental car concerns, and advise them to consult our office before accepting any settlement of those claims
Treatment Coordination
- Check in with clients on a regular cadence to understand how treatment is progressing and whether they are getting relief
- Help clients get scheduled with appropriate providers and stay on track with their care
- Recognize when additional imaging or a specialist referral may be warranted and raise it with the attorney
- Document treatment gaps or missed appointments, re-engage the client, and escalate when additional support is needed
Case and Records Management
- Maintain organized, accurate and current case files, with all client activity documented in our case management system
- Work with the Medical Records Clerk to request, track and verify medical records and billing throughout the life of the case
- Monitor total medical charges against available insurance coverage and flag cases where expenses may approach or exceed policy limits, so strategy can be adjusted early
Demand and Settlement Support
- Prepare thorough settlement demand packages once treatment is complete, including the demand letter and all supporting records, bills and documentation
- Submit demands to the handling attorney for review and approval before they are sent
- Communicate with insurance adjusters to move claims forward and follow up on outstanding demands
- Prepare initial settlement statements for attorney review when offers are received
Pod Collaboration
- Review your caseload ahead of each pod meeting and come prepared to discuss case status, open issues and files in demand or negotiation
- Partner with attorneys and teammates to resolve obstacles and keep cases moving efficiently
Phase Two: Growth Into Litigation
Prior litigation experience is welcome but not required. This is a training path, supported by the attorneys on your pod, with responsibility increasing as the pod completes its transition.
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery and discovery responses
- Manage litigation deadlines and calendars, including e-filing in state and federal courts
- Schedule depositions, mediations, independent medical examinations and litigation meetings
- Track discovery, court filings and trial preparation milestones
- Organize trial exhibits, assemble trial binders, and provide hands-on support through hearings and trial
- Continue serving as a steady point of contact for clients throughout a phase that is often longer and more demanding than pre-litigation
