The Electrical Service Technician II is a skilled, client-facing electrician responsible for independently troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing electrical systems across commercial and industrial environments. This role serves as a primary responder to service calls, utilizing strong problem-solving skills to identify root causes, implement effective solutions, and restore system functionality with minimal disruption to the customer.

Requirements

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:

·       Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and service electrical systems, equipment, and components in commercial and industrial environments

·       Respond to service calls and identify root causes of electrical issues, implementing effective and code-compliant solutions

·       Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, including panels, circuits, lighting, and equipment

·       Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, one-line diagrams, and specifications to execute work accurately

·       Interface directly with customers to explain issues, outline repair solutions, and provide recommendations for system improvements or preventative maintenance

·       Maintain a high level of professionalism while working in customer-occupied facilities and representing the company in the field

·       Identify additional service needs, deficiencies, or upgrade opportunities and communicate findings to appropriate internal stakeholders

·       Complete detailed service documentation, including work performed, materials used, and time tracking

·       Ensure all work is performed in compliance with NEC, state/local codes, and company safety standards

·       Maintain assigned tools, equipment, and company vehicle in a safe and operational condition

·       Provide guidance and direction to Apprentice Technicians on job sites

·       Support emergency service calls, after-hours work, and critical response situations as required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·       Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and troubleshooting methodologies in commercial and industrial environments

·       Proven ability to independently diagnose and resolve electrical issues using structured problem-solving techniques

·       Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications

·       Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable safety standards

·     Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions

·       Effective communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical issues and solutions to customers

·       Strong customer service skills, including professionalism, responsiveness, and the ability to build trust with clients

·       Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple service calls

·       Strong time management and organizational skills in a fast-paced service environment

·       Ability to identify potential risks, deficiencies, and improvement opportunities within electrical systems

Supervisory Responsibilities

·       Provide on-the-job guidance, direction, and support to Apprentice Technicians

·       May lead small crews or service tasks on assigned work

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Position Type and Expected Work Time

Work Environment:

·       Field-based role performing service work across commercial, industrial, and customer-occupied environments

·       Regular exposure to active job sites, operational facilities, and energized electrical systems

·       Work performed in varying conditions, including indoor and outdoor environments, extreme temperatures, noise, and confined spaces

·       Frequent travel to multiple job sites within the service area, including operation of a company vehicle

·       May require after-hours, weekend, and emergency response work based on service demands

·      Requires consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols

·       Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds

·       Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods throughout the workday

·       Manual dexterity and coordination required to safely operate tools, testing equipment, and perform detailed electrical work

·       Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, and work boots

·       Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel to multiple job sites throughout the workday

Position Type:

·       Full-time, non-exempt

Typical Schedule/Shift Details:

·       Typically works a full-time schedule, generally Monday through Friday, with start times varying based on job site and service requirements

·       Reports directly to assigned job sites or designated meeting locations; daily travel to multiple customer locations may be required

·       Work hours may vary depending on service demands, project schedules, and customer needs, including early mornings or extended shifts

·       May be required to work occasional overtime or weekends to support service operations, project deadlines, or emergency response needs

·       Expected to maintain flexibility and availability to support changing schedules in a field-based service environment

Overtime Expectations:

·       This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws

·       Overtime may be required based on business needs, including service demand, project schedules, and customer requirements

·       May be required to work extended hours, early mornings, evenings, or weekends to support service operations and urgent service calls

·       All overtime must be approved in advance by management, unless required to address immediate job site or safety needs

Required Education and Experience

Education:

·       High school diploma or GED required

·       Completion of coursework in electrical theory, construction trades, or a related field preferred

Certifications/Licenses:

·       Active Texas Journeyman Electrician’s License required

·       Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required

·       Ability to meet company requirements for driving a company vehicle, including ongoing motor vehicle record (MVR) compliance

·       OSHA 30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe)

Experience Requirements

·       5+ years of electrical, construction, or related field experience
