Role Overview
We are seeking a Business Development cum Relationship Manager to drive growth in DataCenter/Semiconductor Fab and Manufacturing /Missioning Critical Facilities Design Engineering and Commissioning Services across India, with a primary focus on Mumbai and key Hyperscaler DC, Silicon Fab, Electronics Manufacturing and all Mission Critical Facilities markets – across India.
This role combines strategic sales, client engagement, and long-term account management, targeting clients such as Hyperscaler, colocation providers, developers, EPC contractors, and investors in mission-critical infrastructure.
The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end business development, from opportunity identification to deal closure, while building strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:-
Business Development & Sales
Identify and develop new business opportunities across:
- Design services encompassing Site Selection, Due Diligence, Master Planning, Concept & Detailed Design, and Tender/RFP support across all disciplines:
- Civil, Structural, Architectural & Transport (CSA)
- Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection
- ELV, ICT, Controls, BIM
- Commissioning services (Levels 1–5, IST, Integrated Testing)
- Design Review and Audit services
Drive lead generation through:
- Industry networks and partnerships
- Strategic client outreach
- Market research and intelligence
Own the end-to-end sales cycle including:
- Lead qualification
- Proposal development
- Commercial negotiations
- Contract closure
Client Relationship Management
Build and nurture strong relationships with:
- Hyperscalers
- Colocation providers
- Developers and EPC contractors
- Act as the single point of contact for key accounts
- Develop a deep understanding of client pipelines and future expansion plans
- Strategically position Ramboll as a preferred engineering and commissioning partner
Proposal & Bid Management
Collaborate closely with internal technical teams to:
- Define project scope
- Estimate effort, hours, and resource requirements
- Structure commercial proposals
Lead the preparation and submission of:
- RFP responses
- Technical proposals
- Commercial bids
- Ensure proposals align with client expectations, quality standards, and timelines
Market Intelligence & Strategy
Monitor market trends related to:
- Data center capacity expansion
- Land acquisition activity
- Regulatory and compliance landscape
- Identify early-stage opportunities and upcoming projects
- Support leadership with inputs into go-to-market and growth strategies
Internal Coordination
- Work cross-functionally with:
- Design teams (CSA, MEP, Controls)
- Commissioning teams
- Finance and commercial teams
Ensure a seamless handover from sales to project delivery
Key Deliverables / KPIs
- Annual sales target (Design + Commissioning revenue)
- Number of new clients acquired
- Conversion ratio (Leads → Wins)
- Proposal turnaround time
- Client retention and repeat business
Key Skills
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Ability to engage with CXO-level clients
- Understanding of RFP/RFQ processes
- Strategic thinking with execution focus
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with:
- Hyperscale’s Data Center providers
- Colocation players
- Exposure to: Data center commissioning processes (IST, FWT, SAT) BIM-led design delivery
This role is ideal for a professional who understands both technical engineering services and client relationship dynamics, and is capable of driving high-value data center projects from pursuit to closure.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Civil preferred)
- MBA (Marketing/Strategy) – preferred
- 8–15 years experience in: Data center / mission-critical / EPC / engineering consultancy sales
Strong understanding of: Data center lifecycle (Design → Build → Commission → Operate) MEP systems, power & cooling infrastructure
