Job Description:

Reporting to the Vice President for University Student Engagement, the Associate Dean of Students serves as a leader within the institution, responsible for fostering a supportive and engaging campus environment that promotes student success and well-being for all students at UMSV. This role provides strategic leadership for student affairs programs, services, and initiatives, ensuring alignment with the institution’s mission and values. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for oversight of the following areas within the Division of Student Engagement: Title IX, Title VI, Student Activities, Housing & Residence Life, Counseling Services, BRIDGE Program, and Department of Justice Grant
  • Serve as Title IX Deputy Coordinator, including staff training and case oversight
  • Oversee and enhance the student development experience for all students
  • Lead planning and execution of New Student Orientation and Commencement for all student populations; serve as liaison with campus partners
  • Oversee the student conduct process, uphold community standards, and ensure compliance with institutional policies and legal requirements
  • Lead response efforts for student crises, including behavioral, health, and safety concerns, in collaboration with campus partners
  • Participate in the Dean-on-Call rotation
  • Collaborate with academic departments, faculty, and administrative units to support student success and retention
  • Manage budgets for student affairs programs and services, ensuring effective and strategic allocation of resources
  • Oversee assessment initiatives, evaluate program effectiveness, and recommend improvements
  • Contribute to institutional assessment and accreditation processes related to student services and outcomes
  • Actively participate in committee work
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in education, higher education administration, counseling, or a related field required 
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in higher education 
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Maxient 
  • Availability for evening and weekend activities 
  • Experience in designing, managing, or implementing a team
