Role Summary
We are seeking a Principal‑level SD‑WAN Architect with deep, hands‑on expertise in Aruba EdgeConnect (Silver Peak) to perform a focused design review and optimization of an existing enterprise SD‑WAN deployment (~180 sites).
This engagement is not a greenfield deployment. The architect will be responsible for critically evaluating the current design, validating failure behavior, identifying architectural risks, and recommending concrete improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a comprehensive design review of an existing Aruba EdgeConnect SD‑WAN deployment
- Analyze high availability and failover behavior, with a goal of eliminating manual intervention
- Evaluate routing architecture, including symmetric and asymmetric traffic patterns
- Review and validate integration with Palo Alto Prisma
- Analyze real‑world and theoretical failure scenarios (links, devices, tunnels, services)
- Identify design gaps, risks, and scalability concerns
- Provide a clear set of prioritized architectural recommendations and remediation options
- Present findings to senior technical stakeholders and leadership
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Senior / Principal‑level experience in enterprise network architecture
- Demonstrated, hands‑on expertise with Aruba EdgeConnect (Silver Peak) SD‑WAN
- Experience reviewing and optimizing existing SD‑WAN deployments (not only greenfield)
- Strong understanding of:
- SD‑WAN HA and failover mechanisms
- Overlay/underlay routing behavior
- Traffic steering and path selection
- Symmetry vs asymmetry implications
- Experience integrating SD‑WAN with cloud‑based security platforms (Prisma preferred)
Strongly Preferred
- Aruba EdgeConnect / Silver Peak certifications
- Palo Alto Prisma Access experience
- Experience performing failure testing and validation exercises
- Ability to clearly document findings and defend design recommendations
